How to Play Hidden Object Games: Tips and Tricks

In case you're unfamiliar with the genre, hidden object games are casual games in which you need to find objects from a list that are hidden in a scene. Some hidden object games are more challenging than others (for example, in some of them, you have to find all the objects in a set time), but they all share the same core mechanics.

Hidden object games are a fun way to spend some time and relax during the day. They can help your brain wake up in the morning or relax before sleep. So, if you find yourself playing these games, here are some tips and tricks that might help you have the best hidden object experience.

1. Start small

Pay attention to the details. It might be overwhelming to take the whole picture in, but once you divide it into small sections, finding items becomes much easier. If your game has a zoom-in function, use it! It will help you focus and will increase your overall understanding of a scene.

2. Look for items that stand out

Often you can actually see which objects are meant to be found. They just stand out from the general scene. They may be too dark or too light or just feel wrong. Try tapping on them—they might be something you were looking for (or will be looking for). Just don't overuse it. More often than not, hidden object games have a penalty for tapping on empty spaces too much.

3. Think like an object

Or, rather, think like the person who hides these objects. What color is the object? What shape is it? What is it used for? Sometimes, the object you're looking for might be somewhere related to these things: hidden among other items of the same color or shape or in a place where it's "supposed to be." Or maybe it's somewhere it doesn't belong—that could also be a hint.

4. Increase your screen's brightness

If you're using a phone or a tablet, the brightness might make a world of difference. The scene stops being too dark, and the colors are more vivid. If you're using a PC, this trick can still help you. What's more, you might want to check the filter setting for your screen: some filters might work great with the scenes in your hidden object games.

The most important thing is to be comfortable. If your eyes hurt, stop playing for a while and look out the window to give them a chance to relax.

5. Relax and have fun

This is the most important thing! Just relax, don't think too much, and let your mind wander. More often than not, it's this state that gives you the best results. Overstressing never helps.
