Lady Byron is the head of Darkwood's noblest family and a direct descendant of one of the city's Founders, Nostromo. Lady Ursula is very demanding and influential, but it is these very qualities that help her lead the organization of many charity events.

1. What would be the title of a book about you?

"The Iron Lady of the Byron Family," I think. Ahem, isn't that a little pretentious?

2. If you could spend a day without anyone recognizing you, what would you do?

I'd go horse riding. It isn't appropriate for a lady of my age to ride a horse, but in my youth I was fond of prancing about. I could fly past like the wind, blowing hats off!

3. Did you go to university?

No. And that's one of my few regrets. I'd change it if I could. Do you think it's too late for me to try? No, no, never mind. A lady is always young at heart. Of course it's not too late!

4. What did you dream of becoming as a child?

Of course, a noblewoman. Well, maybe I dreamed just a little of becoming an engineer. Oh, you know, those girlish dreams of building a flying machine or a machine that could count for a person, like an automatic abacus . . .

5. What's the most difficult thing in a lady's life?

To an outsider, I'd say that the first rule for a lady is not to complain. But I'll be honest with you. Maintaining good posture and facial expression quickly becomes a habit. But responding to morning courtesy mail is a real nightmare.

6. Do you have any hobbies?

I'd never turn down a chess game with a serious opponent. Alas, many shy away from playing with me, and it's extremely difficult to find someone worthy. For example, Mayor Smallcat has never once sat down at the chess table with me. Ha, I'm sure he's afraid of being shown up should he lose.

7. What was being a mother like? Did young Gordon have many nannies?

That's common among many aristocrats. But my late husband and I immediately decided to raise little Gordon ourselves. Of course, with the help of the best private tutors and teachers. I now truly appreciate our decision, having seen my son's first steps.

8. Where did you get your dog, Annabelle?

Of course, she's a very noble dog! I'm sure she has a wonderful pedigree; you can literally see it written on her face. That we met miraculously at the gate of my mansion when she was a small puppy, wet from the rain, was just fate.
